PRK Candidate
What Makes a Good PRK Surgery Candidate
PRK is performed in order to correct mild to moderate myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness), and astigmatism.
PRK can eliminate the need for vision correcting glasses. Some patients achieve 20/20 vision after the surgery, and over 90% of PRK candidates that undergo the surgery are able to see with at least 20/40 vision.
In general, to be an ideal PRK candidate you should:
Be at least 18 years old
Be knowledgeable about the PRK procedure
Have a stable prescription for 12 months
Be in good physical health
Be in good psychological health
Be willing to follow directions for optimal results
Have a desire to improve their vision
Be realistic with their expectations regarding the results
Understand the risks and benefits of PRK
Have a corneal curvature and thickness that doesn't allow you to have LASIK
